Alderley Edge Pre-school

Alderley Edge Preschool Committee

Welcome to Alderley Edge Preschool. As the Preschool is a charity providing Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) which is run by a management committee, we wanted to provide further information on the committee for parents who are new to the setting and also those who are interested to learn more and get involved. As indicated by the Preschool learning alliance, children are thought to achieve more when parents are actively involved in their children’s learning and development. There is a team of highly skilled people, led by Rebecca Daniel, employed by the committee to manage the day-to-day running of the setting.  Parents from the preschool volunteer to become a member of the committee (a trustee) to work with the manager to ensure decision-making is undertaken in the best interests of the families and children who attend.

There are currently six trustees. The level of commitment varies based on the role. Certain trustees are assigned ‘officer’ roles and are given additional key tasks to perform, reporting back to the committee for direction and authorisation.  Other roles simply entail the trustees to attend a meeting once a term and where necessary share any other projects or fundraising initiatives that might crop up through the year.

The current committee who form the trustees of the Alderley Edge charity are:
Chair – Emma Green
Treasurer – Catherine Challinor
Secretary – Kate Hobbs
Other – Rona McGlone , Claire Hartley, Dani Lowery

As the Preschool is a charity, roles have to be carried out in accordance with the legal framework provided by the Charities Acts, employment legislation and the EYFS. Further information on this can be found in the ‘Committee Welcome Pack’.

How can you get involved?

The preschool is dependent on the enthusiasm, commitment and good will of volunteers giving their time to get involved and welcomes new members. Trustees are elected, and as charities are not-for-profit, trustees cannot receive any payment or wage for their work, other than reimbursement for reasonable expenses. If you would like to find out more then please speak to Rebecca Daniel, the chair Emma Green or any committee members who would be really happy to talk to you and answer any questions you have.

All members need to complete a DBS check and register with Ofsted. Step by step guidance can be provided for this.
